SHOP-OWNERS in Trowbridge are being warned to tighten-up security after three town centre shops were targeted in as many days.

Mobile phone store Premier Communications is the latest victim with £5,000 of mobile phones and electronic equipment stolen in one go.

Burglars used the store's own bin bags to load up hands-free kits, chargers and phones, including top-of-the-range Samsung, Nokia and Ericsson models.

CCTV covers the town centre but tapes did not catch the burglars in action as they targeted the rear of the shop premises in all three raids.

The mobile phone store was hit between 7pm on Wednesday and 8pm on Thursday. Police hope families that were out celebrating Guy Fawkes' night will shed further light on the burglary.

Shoe Zone and Wimpey International were targeted three days before. Cash was taken from the fast food store while 12 pairs of socks were stolen from Shoe Zone both broken-into on the same night.

PC Shaun Thomas said officers had been visiting retailers in Fore Street to warn them about the break-in and offer advice.

He said: "The message is definitely to double check security, especially doors and windows. "
