SUPERMARINE firebrand Dave Slattery has vowed to clean up his act after seeing red again this week.

The serial card collector was sent off for the second time this season after kicking out at Chippenham's Nathan Edwards in the 4-0 Wiltshire Premier Shield defeat on Wednesday.

It's the latest in a long line of dismissals but the 24-year-old insists he is not proud of his disciplinary record.

He said: "I was stupid against Chippenham, I'm gutted about what happened and I've apologised to the manager.

"I've lost count of the number of times I've been sent off but I really am trying to curb it.

"I've made the effort to get on with referees this season but I just lost control for a split second.

"I just have to stop reacting like that."

Slattery isn't the only offender at Hunts Copse, with Dave Gee and Andy Grainge also making the walk of shame this season.

Manager Ray Baverstock has responded by reading the riot act to his troops.

"The disciplinary situation isn't good and it's something we have to look at.

"If that means fining people heavily, or worse, than that's what will happen.

"My disciplinary record wasn't the best but I never got sent off for kicking out at people, gobbing off or kicking the ball away.

"Dave has a lot of ability but he has to calm down or he'll waste that talent by being suspended all the time."

Marine travel to Stourport Swifts tomorrow looking for goals rather than cards against a side sixth from bottom.

Grainge misses the game through suspension and Dave Toomey is doubtful with flu but Jimmy Carter and Barrie Matthews should return after missing the midweek defeat at Hardenhuish Park.

CIRENCESTER manager Brian Hughes is looking to avenge his side's last league defeat when the Centurions travel to Bedworth tomorrow.

A 3-2 reverse at the Corinium Stadium on September 6 was the last time Ciren were beaten in the Western Division.

Six straight wins have followed to lift Hughes' troops to 10th in the table after a disappointing start to the campaign.

The Ciren manager believes that loss helped his team turn the corner and is determined to extend the winning run to seven.

He said: "Bedworth turned us over at our place in September so we owe them one, but to be fair that defeat sparked us off and we've had a good run since then.

"It's probably getting boring now, but like I say every week we're going okay and we've just got to keep our heads down and getting results.

"We've played quite a few of our games at home so the real test is picking up points on the road and hopefully we can do that at Bedworth."

Seven of Ciren's 10 league games have been at home this season but their record away from the Corinium Stadium is good, with two wins from three games.

Bedworth's fortunes since the sides' last meeting have been mixed with a 6-3 defeat to Halesowen last weekend seeing the Greenbacks fall to fifth from bottom.

Hughes has a fully fit squad at his disposal which means some selection dilemmas, the biggest of which will be who to play up front.

Scott Griffin and Gareth Hopkins have been the favoured partnership during the winning run, but Jody Bevan hit a hat-trick in the 3-0 Dr Martens Cup win over Clevedon on Tuesday and is in contention to start.
