GAZETTE & HERALD: BIG brothers Cameron and Connor Nolan were thrilled when baby sister Courtney arrived in time for breakfast even though they slept through her surprising and super-speedy delivery in the bathroom.

Proud parents Sarah and Mark Nolan, of Park Avenue, Chippenham, are delighted to have a baby girl but her arrival on Sunday last week proved a challenging experience for them both.

"She's doing really well now," said Mrs Nolan, 33.

"The boys just can't get enough of her. They do not leave her alone, and they're very pleased to have a baby sister."

The boys were fast asleep in bed when the bathroom birth took place.

Although Mrs Nolan's previous experiences of giving birth had stretched to 15 hours, this time around everything happened very much more swiftly.

She went into labour at 12.30am and prepared to travel to Bath's Royal United Hospital.

Then everything stepped up a gear at 1.40pm when the pains grew intense and Mrs Nolan started to scream.

She went to the bathroom and her waters broke, and she felt the urge to push.

"It was very weird really," she said. "The adrenalin took over, and I felt a bit apart from everything. I managed the practical things rather than getting into a panic."

Mr Nolan hurried to the phone to dial 999 and summon an ambulance but the baby was born at 1.50pm before the phone call was over.

"I caught her as she came out," said Mrs Nolan.

"I was worried the cord might be around her neck, and that she might hit the floor, but she was fine.

"I held her and reassured her. After a few moments she started screaming and I knew she was okay."

Shortly afterwards the ambulance arrived and mum and baby were taken to the hospital to be checked .

Fortunately everything was fine and they returned home at 8am, so the boys could meet their new sister.

"They got a surprise when they woke up in the morning because my father-in-law had come round to look after them," said Mrs Nolan.

"The boys got to have breakfast with their grandparents."

Mrs Nolan, a full-time parent, said she and her husband had no plans to have any more children.

"We've completed our family now," she said.

They decided the name the little girl Courtney after Friends star Courtney Cox Arquette.
