Swindon suffered their first defeat of the season, going down by five wickets at Cinderford on a shocker of a pitch.

The toss was going to prove crucial and Swindon skipper John Baden unfortunately called incorrectly and the visitors were asked to bat.

Darren Beasant and Darren Rourke hit boundaries in the first couple of overs, but Swindon were soon in trouble.

Rourke was out in the third over trying to pull one that stopped, and only succeeded in hitting it straight up in the air. Baden made the same mistake two overs later and Swindon were 15-2 off five overs.

Beasant and Nichols dug in and got the side to 50-2 before Beasant was bowled for a hard fought 18.

Nichols played his shots and managed to get the score moving before being caught at mid-on for 39. Paul Baden, Baker and Staff all battled in difficult circumstances but fell in relatively quick succession, and it was left to Zohaib, with a couple of lusty blows to push the score past 100.

Stoddard and Tucker played out the last couple of overs, as Swindon finished 112 all out, with Tucker being bowled off the last ball of the innings.

Cinderford had taken full advantage of the conditions with an excellent bowling and fielding display.

Willoughby made a breakthrough for the visitors early on, and although he and Nichols beat the bat regularly Swindon struggled to penetrate the Cinderford batting as the track became slightly easier.

Roberts decided the best form of defence was attack and he smashed the ball around to all parts, making 78 of the first 95 before being stumped by Staff off Stoddard. Wickets continued to fall at the other end but Swindon couldn't get the necessary breakthroughs and Cinderford completed their victory five wickets down with 12 overs remaining.

n Wootton Bassett arrived at Gloucester City with a near full strength team and bounced back from their previous defeat to Malmesbury.

With a track that looked as though it wouild favour batting, Bassett were relieved to win the toss and elected to bat.

Bassett raced to 70 from 10 overs without loss and with Gloucester's opening bowler already injured a high score was on the cards.

Chahal quickly reached his 50, as did Walker resulting in a excellent opening stand of 114 inside 20 overs.

Then started a mini collapse, as Chahal was run out and Walker was out lbw.

Clarke and Bradley helped take the total to 201 for 4 from 35 overs and Bassett eventually finished on 266 for six.

With a large total to defend, Bassett were more interested in keeping the opening overs tight but when Stevens (13-3-56) had Lee caught at mid on by Chattell, it was the best possible start.

Lancaster bowling from the other end kept the run rate low with some tight bowling, and the pressure began to tell with three wickets falling for 11 runs, leaving Gloucester on 69 for 4 from 20 overs.

With Lancaster tiring (10-1-38), Lukens was brought into the attack with immediate effect claiming the wicket of Patel, caught at point by Griffin.

The only resistance offered at this stage was by Hooper (70), but with wickets tumbling around him, he soon lost patience and put a full toss straight into Walkers hands, giving Lukens his fourth wicket.

Bennett then gave a simple catch to Chahal and Gloucester out for 193.
