THE Butcher Row, Salisbury branch of Timpson, the key cutting and shoe repairs chain, has achieved outstanding success in a national survey examining customer service.

The branch's staff, led by manager Rob Grayer, achieved a 100 per cent pass mark from an independent retail quality control company, which tested the Timpson team with an awkward customer scenario.

Mr Grayer and his team's customer service skills were put under the microscope by an undercover shopper who examined how staff dealt with a difficult customer requesting a watch repair.

Chairman and chief executive John Timpson said: "For Rob's team to score a 100 per cent pass rate is a superb achievement considering the challenge presented to them.

"Their combined knowledge and expertise and dedication to customer service was deservedly recognised by the independent scrutineers and I'm very proud of them."

Mr Grayer said: "I'm delighted we came out with a score of 100 per cent.

"Occasionally, customers can be very demanding, but we treat them with courtesy and patience and very often that wins them round."
