WITH just three days to go before one of Swindon's largest protest marches, organisers say preparations are going well.

The protest march against three planned developments in Swindon is set to take place on Saturday.

It will see marchers take to the streets of the town to voice their opposition to the proposed stadium near Sparcells, a university campus near Coate and thousands of houses proposed for the Front Garden.

March organiser Alan Hayward, a 44-year-old IT consultant from Sparcells, will be in the thick of the action and is anticipating more than 4,000 people turning out.

He is in the process of publishing a route map which will be on the Swindon Forest Protection Group website www.sfpg.org.uk/june5th.shtml.

He has also ordered several route marking signs which he and other organisers will put up in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He said: "Everything is coming together well and we're urging everyone to join us on Saturday.

"I believe that it is in the common interest of all the people of Swindon that we join together and call a halt to the developer and money-driven strategy that is ultimately going to damage our lives."

The march will begin at 10am from two starting points the car parks at Coate Water Country Park and Shaw Forest Country Park.

Protesters will march through the town centre on Saturday lunchtime and will finish at the council offices, in Euclid Street,

Speeches will be made and petition will be presented against the three planned developments.
