Proud parents are being asked to enter their children into a competition to find the Face Of The Festival.

The contest will form part of this year's Swindon Summer Festival, which takes place from July 14 to 18.

Music, dance and theatre will bring colour and vibrancy to the town centre in a packed programme of events.

The festival, run by Swindon Council and sponsored for the fifth year by Reckitt Benckiser, is free of charge to the public and is designed to appeal to all ages.

More than 70 performances make up the festival programme this year, including acrobatic displays from Mombassa and China, live music, plus interactive street theatre artists such as the 16-piece Neighbourhood Watch Stiltwalking International.

The parade will also include a mix of professional artists, community groups and children.

The winner of Face Of The Festival will have the honour of opening the proceedings alongside the Mayor of Swindon.

Parents should send a picture and brief explanation of why their child should win, to Jane Alcock, Face Of The Festival Competition, Clarion Communications, 121-141 Westbourne Terrace, London, W2 6JR by July 5.
