Andy NewmanTHE head of Swindon Stop the War Coalition is to spearhead an anti-BNP protest on Sunday.

Andy Newman is also a member of and spokesman for the Unite Against Fascism group.

The coalition's attention has been drawn to Calne because BNP member Robert Baggs is standing as a European Parliamentary candidate there.

The BNP denies it is a racist or fascist organisation, but its opponents point out that the party would like to see Britain become a country for whites only.

Mr Newman said protesters were invited to assemble at 11am in the grounds of St Edmund's Church in Calne's Oxford Road, prior to distributing leaflets.

There are set to be protestors from all over Wiltshire, including Swindon.

He added: "Each time we leaflet Calne, we are joined by many people from Calne itself."
