13189/1ENTERPRISING youngsters at Malmesbury School have raised nearly £3,000 for children's charity Barnardo's.
The charity gave £150 to the six Year 13 pupils as an incentive eight months ago. Now the students, who are following a business studies course, have turned it into more than £2,800.
The students, Victoria Bailey, Amanda King, Amy Langdown, James Nation, James Vynne and Lee Parnell-Brooks raised the cash with a Valentine's disco, raffle, name the teddy bear and an auction of promises.
Business studies teacher Sheila Harris said: "I am very pleased with the way the pupils have worked, they did very well. They raised a fantastic amount of money for Barnardo's more money than they hoped."
The pupils also learned how to set up a business. Ms Harris said: "I think they have learned a lot."
