WILTSHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE: GREAT Bedwyn continued their good start to the season with a comfortable home win against previously undefeated Purton.

Batting first Bedwyn made 231-8 thanks to Richard Lawler with 83. They then bowled Purton out for just 70 in 32.1 overs, with Justin Bailey taking 6-22 in 15 overs.

Second placed Marshfield are the only undefeated side in the division following their win at struggling Box.

Solid batting took Box to 171-5, with Will Pascall taking 3-71. A fine 112 not out from James Williams then took Marshfield to a comfortable seven wicket success.

Nationwide House still seek their first win as they narrowly lost at home to Calne. Calne scored 189-7, with John Gladdings making 74 and Mark Harmush taking 3-41 in 15 overs.

Nationwide then fell eight runs short of victory as they closed at 182-7, Mark Vincent top scoring with 37.

Potterne entertained Collingbourne who rattled up 231-8 with the major contributions coming from Ben Nicholls (72), Tom Edmunds (44), Mike Chandler (32) and Alan Cummings (39 not out). Lee Sanders, 3-50, and Ricky Jackson, 2-42, were the pick of the Potterne bowlers.

Potterne were then bowled out for 126 with ten overs remaining, only John Bathe (43) and Anthony Dowell (23) offering much resistance as Ben Doherty took 4-35 in 11.5 overs and Ghyas Khan 3-37 in 11.

A much weakened Westinghouse side were bowled out for 125 at Bath Civil Service, with John Fair takingn 4-34 in his 15 overs. Dominic Parris (72 not out) then helped Civil Service to an easy eight wicket victory.

Division Two

LECHLADE and Swindon Civil Service are setting the early pace, both remaining unbeaten.

Lechlade visited Beanacre and restricted them to 157-8, Roy Veacock (41) top scoring. A solid knock by Roger Pettifer then led Lechlade to a comfortable seven wicket success.

Swindon Civil Service also travelled to winless Burbage and ER. Here Stan Smith (61) and A.Hamid (57) helped them to 172 all out as Ashley Rosear took 3-65 in 15 overs.

Despite the efforts of Pete Amor (56) and Roy Barker (51), Burbage were bowled out for 150 with 17 balls remaining, Nick Money, with 5-42 in 12 overs, was the pick of the visitors' bowlers.

Also still to win are Cooper-Avon Tyres who entertained Urchfont. Dean Wallington (68) underpinned a Cooper-Avon total of 137 all out as Mark Bateman took 5-30 in 15 overs. Urchfont then raced to a nine wicket win in 24.3 overs.

Buscot Park had Hamish Millar's 58 to thank as they made 163-6 at Seagry, with Ian Thurgood taking 3-54 in 14 overs. Adam Lawrence (59) and Alex Fereday (41) then helped Seagry to a seven wicket win with five overs to spare.

Division Three

PROMOTED Avebury are setting the pace in this division as with Wanborough they remain undefeated.

Avebury bowled hosts Swindon 3rds out for just 85 with Vince Ogbourne taking 4-22. They then went on to an easy nine wicket success.

Wanborough made 240-5 at winless Moredon Royal Oak with a fine 128 not out by Nick Stacey the main score and Paul Jeffcoat (45 not out) helping in an unbroken sixth wicket stand. Alan Thompson, 4-65 in 14 overs, and Rob Wilson, 3-46 in 10, then helped restrict Moredon to a respectable 201-9 in reply, with Barry Sellar making 65 and Steve Williams 43.

Blunsdon bowled visitors Cherhill out for 149 with Kevin Aubrey taking 3-12 in 15 tight overs and Chris Hamblin 5-47 in 11. Alan Mortimer (33) top scored for Cherhill. Aubrey (45 not out) and Darren Fisher (35 not out) then saw Blunsdon to a seven wicket success with ten overs in hand.

Highworth were bowled out for 142 at home to Lambourn, with Bobby Groves (42) top scoring as Pete Munday took 3-46 in 15 overs and Paul Annetts 3-41 in his 15. Munday (39 not out) then helped Lambourn to a five wicket win in the 40th over.

At Heytesbury Richard Jelf and Adam Ackworth opened with a stand of 73 for the home side, and with Rob Barnes (41) top scoring they closed on 165 all out as Rob Perryman took 4-41 for visiting Wroughton Wranglers.

Despite 32 by Mark McMeekin, Wroughton were then bowled out for 133 as Ackworth took 6-22 in 11 overs and Rob 3-25 in 14.2 overs.

Division Four

THERE are no unbeaten sides in the Division which is led by Corsham 3rds, closely followed by Keevil.

Corsham scored 175-7 at Coates, with Rob Grace taking 3-43 in his 15 overs. Steve Collier, with 4-13, which included a hat-trick, then helped bowl Coates out for 115, Mark Robbins (32 not out) top scoring.

Keevil entertained Bathford and scored 147-9, with Andy Hallett making 40 and Les Tucker taking 6-34. They then bowled Bathford out for 90.

Bradford Town made 156-9 at home to Wilcot with Tony Laws (34) and Graham Long (25) the major contributors as Graham Smith took 2-34 in 15 overs and James Gaiger 2-40 in 10.

Laws then took 5-35 in 12.3 overs and Sam Edwards took his first senior five wicket haul with 5-29 in 15.

At 70-8 Wilcot were in trouble but a ninth wicket stand of 72 between Graham Smith and Alistair Fyfe helped Wilcot up to 148 all out.

Swindon Litten Tree's good start continued as they successfully chased Dauntsey Gentlemen's 232-5. Addey Smith was Dauntsey's top scorer with an excellent 116 and Julian Brown took 3-42 in 15 overs.

Brown's 33 not out along with Kevin Crook 87 not out then saw Litten Tree home by six wickets in an unbroken partnership of 100. Earlier Mark Brown (50) had helped set them on their way.

Division Five

DEVIZES 3rds were restricted to 126-5 which Marshfield 2nds knocked off for the loss of seven wickets.

Division Six

PROMOTED Beehive Bradford and relegated Nettleton are the early pace setters in this Division, with both sides undefeated.

Beehive bowled hosts Goatacre 3rds out for just 79, in which Andy Sandell's 21 was the top score. Adrian Dix, 4-20 in 10 overs, and Shaun Brown, 4-13 in 10, did the damage. Lee Hambley (28) and Mike Reeves (35 not out) then saw Beehive to an easy nine wicket win.

Nettleton bowled out visiting Chippenham 3rds for 125, with Ian Witt taking 3-21 in nine overs and Stuart Baker 4-18 in nine as Ray Bullen (40) top scored for the visitors.

Chris Day, 3-46 in 12.4 overs, and Alan Merryweather, 2-17, then made sure Nettleton had to fight for the runs before they gained a five wicket victory in the 39th over, thanks to Rob Pratt (37), Pete Fucher (28) and Stuart Baker 30.

Already looking to be in for a hard season, Box 2nds and Wootton Bassett 3rds still seek their first wins.

At All Cannings Adrian Plank's 91 helped them to 273-3. Then Keith Bills, 3-10 in three overs, and Adrian Goodall, 5-7 in eight overs, helped shoot out Box out for just 42.

Wootton Bassett 3rds were dismissed for 109 at Calne 2nds, with James Millington making a valuable 49 and Toby Mitchell 26 as Darren Holcombe took 3-12 in five overs and Will Ventor 3-23 in seven overs.

Steve Shepherd (21), Dan Shuker (42 not out) and Tom Knight (24 not out) then took Calne to a comfortable eight wicket victory.

Bradford Town 2nds finally got off the mark with a comprehensive 142 run win at Lacock. Thanks to Dave Edwards (81) and Keith Elliott (46 not out), Bradford made 223-7. Steady bowling then saw Lacock bowled out for just 81 with sixteen overs still left.

Division Seven

CHERHILL 2nds have already opened a gap at the top of the Division as the only remaining unbeaten side.

They dismissed visiting Bath Civil Service 2nds for 116, in which Nick Clifford (46) top scored as SteveHutchinson took 2-34 in 15 accurate overs and Dave Hewings 4-60 in 14.2. Steve (51 not out), Hewings (31) and Nick Raven (21 not out) then led Cherhill to a eight wicket victory.

Trowbridge A continued their good start to the season with a 33 run home win over Cooper-Avon Tyres 2nds.

Trowbridge scored 160 all out, with Steve Neate (35), Paul Rigby (29) and Rob Brown (21) top scoring as Aravindan took 3-58 in 15 overs and Dave Woodward 4-20 in 7.1. Only a fine 85 from Steve Bailey then enabled Cooper-Avon to reach 127 all out as Dave Gibson took 4-20 in 7.2 overs and Dirk Kemp 2-21 in 10.

Collingbourne 2nds bowled visitors Potterne 2nds out for 69 and went on to a nine wicket win. Nathan Young 3-9 in six overs, Paul Isherwood 2-18 in seven and Tom Glastonbury 2-8 in seven took taking the bowling honours with Rob Stamp (41 not out) and David Gale (26 not out) the batting honours.

Corsham 4ths gained their first win as they shot Beanacre 2nds out for 65 as Martin Hick took 5-15 in 12.3 overs and Josh Dewley 2-10 in five. John Gale (37 not out) then led Corsham to an easy nine wicket win.

Also winners by nine wickets were Dauntsey Gentlemen 2nds, who bowled visiting Marshfield 3rds out for 50, with Neil Thomas returning figures of: 15 ovs. 8 mds. 3 wkts. 8 runs. Phil Smith, 4-34 in 15 overs, and Gordon Mitchell, 3-4 in four were also among the wickets. Lee Walter (36) then helped Dauntsey to their target with 25 overs to spare.

Division Eight

CHIPPENHAM 4ths, Biddestone 3rds and Swindon 4ths remain unbeaten and have already opened up a gap.

At Chippenham, Blunsdon 2nds were bowled out for 101 in which Mark Wilson top scored with 41.

Asad Qureshi, 3-21 in eight overs and Majid Qureshi, 4-19 in 10, took the bowling honours. Majid (26 not out) and Simon Goodman (21 not out) then steered Chippenham to a three wicket victory as Wilson took 3-20 in 12 overs and Max Walker 3-35 in 10.

Biddestone made 188-9 at home to Highworth 2nds with a fine 111 from Chris Casey and 31 from George Harper. For Highworth Simon Gibson took 3-60 in 15 overs and Andrew Perkins 3-27 in five. Casey, 3-6 in six overs, Harper, 3-17 in five, and Andrew Lawson, 3-1 in nine balls, then whipped out Highworth for 50.

Swindon 4ths raced to their highest ever league score of 296-5 declared at Bathford 2nds, with Wayne Steptoe making a brilliant 160 and Sandip Lupre 50. Richard Barratt then took 5-48 in 14 overs, but Mike Noel (90 not out) helped Bathford to a respectable 146-8 in reply.

All Cannings 2nds picked up their first win as they made 178 all out at Devizes 4ths, with some solid batting.

For Devizes Stephen Lever took 7-43 in 13.4 overs and Alan Swinburn 38 then top scored in their 146 all out.

Garry Perrett, 5-33 in 12.3 overs, and Garry Mansell, 4-18 in six, took the wickets for All Cannings.
