13101/2GAZETTE & HERALD: A memorial bench has been placed in front of The Wharf in Calne in memory of Louisa Jane (Jean) Ings.
Mrs Ings, who died in April aged 93, was a resident at the sheltered accommodation for the elderly, which is run by Westlea Housing Association.
Her friends at The Wharf made donations to the amenities fund as a tribute to her. The money was used to buy the three-seater bench for the lawn in front of the houses, close to the River Marden.
The bench was dedicated to Mrs Ings in a memorial attended by family, friends and staff.
Staff member Brett Cowley said: "Residents have been given a comfortable place to sit where they can also remember their friend."
As a resident at The Wharf, Mrs Ings was able to take part in many social activities including coffee mornings, bingo and a knit and natter session. The social committee, run by tenants, also organises events and excursions based on suggestions from other tenants.
Although Mrs Ings was called Louisa Jane, everyone knew her as Jean. She was born on January 25, 1911.
