BUSINESS people from Tornio in Finland will be visiting Devizes and the surrounding area as the first of several visits planned between the two towns this year.

The business people will arrive on Saturday and stay for a week.

During the mornings they will be participating in a specialist English course, led by Ray Roberts, a former teacher at Devizes School and now a teacher of English as a foreign language.

In the afternoons the business people will be visiting different places, including Avebury, sponsored by Kennet District Council.

This year six 16 to 18-year-olds and two teachers will be joining Devizes School for its summer camp.

On August 22 Guides from the Second and Fourth Devizes Guides will go to Tornio for their summer camp.

Coun Tony Duck, chairman of Tornio Twinning Association, said: "The association has been in existence for 15 years and has always sought to promote friendship between English and Finnish people, particularly with an emphasis on younger people and the association would welcome interest from anyone who would like to be involved in its work."
