While not wishing to extend the debate too long on the 'energy from waste' plant that was proposed for Bromham, I would like to present some facts from a similar scheme that is being started next month in the Channel Islands.
The plant will be situated in a quarry which is in a built-up area and is planned to be 'on line' in late 2006. The States of Guernsey are investing £72 million, which is nine times the size of the unit proposed for Bromham. It will provide about 10 per cent of the island's electricity needs and increase the life of the landfill site by 10 times.
These facts come from the Guernsey press and the States, who are looking to the future.
