Might I suggest that in his letter two weeks ago to the Gazette & Herald one of the recent ex-Mayors of Chippenham is full of sour grapes and being irrelevant as well as being very political all the things of which he accuses Coun Philip Allnatt.
Councillor Allnatt said that he would conform to the civic and ceremonial side of council life and obviously be non-political as Mayor, which he has confirmed is a non-political position.
Currently, both the Mayors of Chippenham and Calne are also on the North Wiltshire District Council Executive the political decision-making body of the district council.
The one fact that is conveniently omitted is that Coun Allnatt has served the community of Chippenham so well and determinedly. He ought to be Mayor before he shortly leaves the town for pastures new.
