CHIPPENHAM NEWS: A SCOUT group in Chippenham is appealing for former members to help them celebrate their 75th anniversary later this year.
The 1st Chippenham Scout Group, in Audley Road, is planning a party over the August bank holiday and wants former members to phone them for an invitation to attend a tea party
Sleepovers and a climbing challenge are some of the events planned.
Akela Jo Redfern said: "Although it is all about moving on to the future it is important for youngsters to draw on wisdom from the past.
"If you can capture the imagination of young people they enjoy learning and soaking up the experience of older people."
Mrs Redfern said one of the toughest challenges over the weekend will be the Everest climb when youngsters will scale a model until between them they reach a height equivalent to the mountain's peak.
During a more relaxed task, they will make cakes and birthday cards and deliver them to 75 houses in the area.
To prepare for the celebrations, the group is hoping to secure funding to redecorate and repair their building.
Mrs Redfern said after the celebrations are finished the scout group can look forward to a bright future.
