HIGHWORTH'S rich past will come alive at an exhibition this month. A Meet the Ancestors display is being organised as part of the Highworth Festival. St Michael's Church will be transformed into a portal into the past.
Visitors will be able to stroll around a Roman market, find out what a medieval kitchen looked like and learn about the Highworth branch railway.
David Roblin, who is helping organise the festival, said: "Highworth has a really interesting past, and was originally bigger and more important than Swindon.
"This a chance for people to learn all about their town."
Mr Roblin said that the varied events held so far this year as part of the festival had been well supported. "Many have sold out and we're pleased with the support," he said.
The next event is a French supper and cabaret night organised by the Twinning Society.
Residents will be tucking into a four course meal from 7.30pm on Saturday, June 12 at St Michael's Hall. Tickets, at £20, are available from the Lighthouse Bookshop.
And later this month, residents will be showing the delights of their gardens between June 26 and 27.
