TEENAGE heroes who pulled a man from a blazing flat and a taxi driver who donated a kidney to his brother are the kind of stories that could win the Vodafone Life Savers Awards.

The Wiltshire Times has teamed up with mobile phone company Vodafone UK to find the district's unsung heroes.

Members of the public can nominate stories of bravery and determination by people who have saved a life in extraordinary circumstances in the past two years.

Likely entries may include Steve Chappell, Luke Ward, Matty Williams and Ben Brown, who courageously saved the life of Allen Bailey from his burning flat in Westbury.

Taxi driver Nigel Davis, of Hilperton, could be up for a nomination after he underwent transplant surgery to donate a kidney to save his brother's life.

The Wiltshire Times' top story will automatically secure a place on a national shortlist and go before a judging panel that will include Claire Sweeney and Carol Smillie.

If our nomination makes the next round of 10 national finalists our lifesaver will be invited to attend a reception at Downing Street and an award presentation at the Savoy Hotel.

Nominees who pass the first stage of the contest will win a Vodafone pay as you talk mobile phone.

Nominations should be no longer than 500 words outlining why the lifesaver should win. Entries should include the name of the rescuer and the people saved as well as a daytime telephone number. Send your entries to Life Savers competition, Wiltshire Times, 15 Duke Street, Trowbridge, BA14 8EF to arrive by June 25.
