I was very sorry and upset to receive the news late on Sunday evening that Minna Gillham had died.

Strangely enough, I had driven through Bradford on Avon on my way back to Pembrokeshire a few hours earlier.

I can only wholeheartedly endorse the comments made by Vicky Landell Mills and Laurie Wilson. She truly was one of a kind.

I knew her well from my time at West Wiltshire District Council and no-one stood up more for Bradford on Avon than she did and I know she will be sorely missed by the Town Council and the organisations in it that she worked with.

Whilst many people in their advancing years would put their feet up, Minna was an inspiration to us younger ones in working hard and speaking up for her residents and beloved town.

I last saw Minna at the Westbury Liberal Democrat constituency dinner, and was pleased that although Ann and myself moved away over two years ago she sat with us for the whole evening and, as always, was entertaining company.

It will be difficult to replace Minna in Bradford and I trust that a suitable memorial will be instigated in due course, as she fought hard to get the best for Bradford on Avon.
