CRICKLADE will be buzzing with activity when its annual town festival kicks off next month.

There will be activities ranging from Bollywood dancing, a Bee Gees' night and boules competitions.

Launched four years ago, the festival has gone from strength, with 24 events running from June 12-27.

Nigel Wynne, chairman of the festival committee, said: "There will be something for the entire family to enjoy. We want to make this the best festival yet."

There will be a chance to relive the '60s, '70s and '80s all in one night at a gig by the Bootleg Bee Gees at the town hall on June 26.

At the other end of the musical spectrum, the Swindon Choral Society will be performing at St Sampson's Church on June 14 and the Collegium Brass Quintet is at St Mary's Church on June 18.

A barbershop quartet will be wandering Cricklade pubs on June 16 and Prior Park School pupils will be performing at the United Church on June 21.

One of the highlights last year was local folk musicians performing at the Bell Inn, Purton. This year the Music Alive event takes place on June 21.

Sporty activities feature highly this year. The festival kicks off with a triathlon at the Leisure Centre on June 12, and there will be a cycle race on June 19, starting at St Mary's Church and finishing on Common Hill. Other attractions include a Creepy Cricklade Tour, a duck race, an art exhibition, a beetle drive, a fete at St Sampson's Infant School and a children's mask parade.
