A DEVELOPER hoping to build four new homes in Trowbridge has resubmitted a planning application, despite already being refused permission.
The application by Maplegrove Ltd to build the houses at West-bourne Gardens was due to be considered by West Wiltshire District Council's planning committee last night.
Trowbridge Town Council and the Highways Authority have objected to the proposal on the grounds of difficulties with access.
At present the land is occupied by 30 garages, used by local residents for parking and storage.
The application was refused in November but the developer has resubmitted it, claiming that traffic to the site would actually decrease if the garages were replaced by four homes.
The council's planning officer has recommended permission be granted on the grounds that traffic would not significantly increase, those using the garages could instead park on the street and the garages make no positive contribution to the local landscape.
