Around 200 people came out to enjoy the sunshine this weekend for a Trowbridge estate's annual fun day.

Crowds flocked to the Seymour estate on Saturday with fire engines, a police sniffer dog and a barbecue among the many attractions.

Jan Jeffries, acting chairman of the Seymour Tenants and Residents Association, said she was considering emulating a singing legend when she woke to see dark clouds gathering.

She said: "When I first got up I thought I would have to do a Barbara Streisand rendition of Don't Rain On My Parade but by 9.30am it was gorgeous.

"I was so frightened it was going to fall flat as it was the first time I had organised the event, but with the help of my team, it went like clockwork.

"We couldn't have done it without the help of Trowbridge Town Council and the police and fire brigade were really supportive."

Asda and Tesco provided the food for the barbecue while the Seymour Alldays store donated bags of charcoal.

Mrs Jefferies said: "We went begging and borrowing and it really paid off. I even got a suntan on the day."

Cllr Tom James said it was one of the most well-supported fun days he had ever been to.

Fun days are also planned for Trow-bridge's Longfield and Studley Green estates later this year.
