THE husband and sister of 28-year-old cancer victim Rachel Deadman will join staff at a Trowbridge supermarket this weekend for a charity bonanza in her memory.

Asda employee Caroline Laba, 20, will launch the fundraising bid in-store tomorrow, to raise cash for a £10,000 memorial fund set up after her sister's death last month.

Rachel's husband Rob, a former Wiltshire rugby captain, will be joining his sister-in-law to raise money for the Royal United Hospital's cancer unit, which cared for his wife during her three-year battle with cervical cancer.

Mr Deadman reiterated his commitment to raising the cash in his wife's memory.

"If I have to pack bags to raise money I will do it," he said.

"I am determined to reach the £10,000 mark and have plenty of events in the pipeline.

"The more money we can get to help out other people the better. I have got the kids settled and I am back to work so we are getting things back together.

"Nobody can bring her back, which is a shame, but people can react by donating money or auction items.

"Rachel would have wanted to help out other people."

Employees at Asda will kit themselves out in Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts and leis to raise money for the cause.

Entertainment will include a barbecue, face painting, a bouncy castle and lucky dip. A prize raffle will boast a host of cuddly Disney characters, including a 32-inch Winnie the Pooh, and a rugby ball signed by the entire Bath squad.

Store fundraising coordinator Chris Penelhum said: "We are really looking forward to this as we will be holding a fantastic day of fun and excitement for customers and colleagues, with all the activities going on we will be looking to raise a huge amount of money.

Events will kick off from 10am tomorrow.

Mr Deadman, of Fleur de Lys Drive, Southwick, has amassed a host of signed sports equipment he plans to auction in the coming months.

A signed shirt from England star Steve Borthwick is featured in the collection.

Even Mr Deadman's youngest child, three-year-old Kyle, is getting involved in the fundraising drive with a sponsored task, earning money by completing activities such as learning to spell, pouring a drink and tying his shoelaces.
