THE perfect use for the Mechanics Institute was suggested to me a long time ago, and I cannot believe no one has implemented the idea.
There are, and have been for some time, talks of a permanent home for the library.
Well, why not solve two issues in one a good use for the Mechanics and a good home for the library are one and the same. Turn the Mechanics' into a new library.
The Mechanics' has the same amount of parking as the current library (none) and is as close to the town centre and other facilities.
Now that's all sorted, I will look forward to visiting!
