AN ASTONISHING batting collapse meant Westbury did well to reach 133 all out before Timsbury secured victory on Saturday.

The visitors lost eight wickets for just 29 runs and were only saved from further embarrassment by 28 not out by number 10 Phil Carroll.

Some effective bowling from Joe Breet (3-37) at least meant Timsbury had to work reasonably hard for their six-wicket win.

Westbury won the toss and batted with a new opening partnership of Adam Pothecary and captain Alex Hart. The pair put on 44 for the first wicket before disaster struck.

None of the next six batsmen reached double figures as the visitors slumped to 73-8. Hart's 29 proved the top score, but Matt Dix (10), and Andy Carroll (13) added to Phil Carroll's late rally to take Westbury into triple figures. Steve Clothier was Timsbury's leading wicket taker with 4-18 from 13 overs.

Westbury were able to restrict Timsbury to 95-4 at one stage before Pippett (45 not out) and Davies (28 not out) steered them home with more than 12 overs to spare. Westbury are away to table topping Nailsea tomorrow and know they cannot afford a repeat performance if they are to maintain a promotion challenge.
