Residents of Wyke Road and Foxglove Drive in Hilperton are becoming increasingly concerned about the jungle which seems to be taking over the so-called 'public open space'.

What's particularly sad is seeing the children's play area becoming overgrown and neglected, after all the trouble we had getting it there.

The area seems to be a victim of petty wrangling between Wimpey Homes and West Wilts District Council.

Wimpey does not come off well in this whole sorry saga.

When the play area was first provided it was in a terrible state with bare clay soil and loose rocks littering the ground.

That was four years ago and still Wimpey has refused to do the relatively simple job of putting it right.

The district council pretends to be interested in cleaning up public spaces, but on this issue it has been totally weak and ineffective.

Yet again developers have been allowed to build their houses, take their profits and run away without fulfilling their obligations.

The summer holidays are fast approaching.

I appeal to Wimpey and the district council to sort this mess out so the children can play and the residents can go for a walk without having to get their machetes out.
