TOWN will begin their Coca-Cola League One promotion push with an opening day clash at Wrexham on Saturday, August 7.

It is the first time Andy King's men have kicked off a season away from home since they travelled to Walsall at the start of the disastrous 1999-2000 relegation campaign.

The trip to the Racecourse Ground will be followed four days later with the visit of Luton Town to the County Ground.

The newly-named Milton Keynes Dons arrive in Wiltshire on Saturday, August 14.

Bristol City's play-off final failure last month at least ensured that derby rivalries with Town would be renewed in 2004-5.

The first clash between the two sets of Robins will take place at Ashton Gate on August 21.

City, now under the guidance of player-manager Brian Tinnion, will arrive at the County Ground for the return on March 28.

The hectic Christmas period sees Town travel to Peterborough United on Boxing Day with Brentford the visitors two days later. Town will kick-off 2005 with a home match against Phil Parkinson's Colchester United.

Division newcomers Hull City had hoped to start the season with Sam Parkin in their side but instead they will be forced to try and stop him, having failed in a £250,000 bid to prise him north.

Their first opportunity to suffer at Super Sammy's hands will come at the County Ground on Saturday November 20.

A hopefully triumphant campaign will come to a finale on Saturday, May 7 with a home match against Chesterfield.

Town skipper Matt Hewlett cannot wait to get started but admits it is a tough-looking start.

He said: "Going to Wrexham is never easy and games against Luton and Milton Keynes won't be easy either. Still we've nothing to fear and we can go into that first month with confidence."
