STEVE Robinson would love nothing more than to follow an afternoon in the Ashton Gate cauldron with a Sunday morning run-out for his friend's pub team as he battles to regain full match fitness.

Such is the midfielder's desire for games that he would happily switch from a 15,000 arena to a grotty surface in front of one man and his dog 24 hours later.

Some players tend to complain about a high number of games being crammed into a short space of time at this time of year.

Robinson isn't one of them, in fact the more matches the merrier.

He said: "Having been out of action for eight months, I just need games.

"That's why I was happy to play in the reserve game against Bristol City the other day.

"I'll be honest, I'd play anywhere at the moment if it meant I could get another game under my belt.

"My mate runs a side in the second division of a Sunday league in Nottingham. Maybe he'll give me a run out?

"The more games I have the happier I'll be.

"Whether I'd get in the pub side at the moment, I don't know.

"I'll ask the gaffer. He'd probably let me do it."

The 29-year-old is unlikely to get such a blessing from his manager and will have to make do with just the one match this weekend.

He is hoping the call will come to face Bristol City and provide him with the chance to add the missing 10 per cent to his game.

He said: "I've been doing extra weights after training in a bid to build my strength back up. When you've been out for so long, it isn't easy to just step straight back in and be at full throttle.

"I'm looking to restore that extra 10 per cent to my game.

"I hit a wall after an hour of the win over Milton Keynes. It's hard to explain how it feels."

While Robinson and his colleagues will give their all on the pitch, he is urging Town fans to travel in force and help the team to victory.

Around half of Town's 2,000 allocation has been sold so far and Robinson hopes they will be joined by others to help roar on the team.

He said: "We are going into hostile territory and the more vocal support you have the better. It helps you realise that you're not alone and it can make a massive difference."

Town all but sold out their allocation for the corresponding fixture last season.

On the subject of fixtures, Town's home clash with Sheffield Wednesday has been moved from Saturday, October 9 to Sunday, October 10.

Club spokesman Chris Tanner said: "Following ongoing discussions with Sheffield Wednesday and the Football League, the match has been switched.

"This will allow supporters of both clubs to watch the England versus Wales match on the Saturday before travelling to the County Ground to enjoy Town against Sheffield Wednesday."

The match against the Owls will kick off at 2pm.
