Jeanette and Andy with Betty Sheppard who died in 1986CHIPPENHAM NEWS: A 71-YEAR-OLD man who has been scouring Corsham for two long-lost friends is appealing for help.
John Sheppard, who now lives in Cornwall, has spent the past two weekends searching for Jeanette and Andy. He thinks their surname was Jenkins.
Mr Sheppard and his late wife Betty worked with the couple in Butlins Holiday Centre in Sussex in 1981.
"We were more like a family really. We were so friendly over that period of eight months. Most people took it for granted they were our kids," he said.
When their work at Butlins ended the four friends moved into a caravan near Bognor for about three months.
They celebrated Mr and Mrs Sheppard's 25th wedding anniversary and the Sheppard's went to the young couple's wedding in Corsham in 1982.
The Jenkins' tried to visit the Sheppards in 1987 at their home in Telford, Shropshire but Mr Sheppard had moved to Saudi Arabia following the death of his wife in 1986.
Mr Sheppard has been searching for the couple, who would now be in their 40s, ever since.
