A WILTSHIRE firm has scored a European success after winning interest in its environmentally-friendly way of packaging fragile data cable.

The Great Western Packaging Company, on Chelworth Park in Cricklade, joined up with its customer General Cable Industries to produce a fully-recyclable cardboard container, instead of using the traditional wood or plastic materials.

Now GCI, based in Thatcham, Berkshire, has received several inquiries from mainland Europe. Paul O'Brien, GCI's purchasing and logistics manager, said: "This is an excellent example of how two British manufacturing companies can work together to produce an innovative product.
