Ref. 72494-82HSBC bank in Old Town has launched a new commercial centre and the team aims to spend more time out and about meeting clients.

The managers, who will be on the road three days a week, have been authorised to make individual lending decisions of up to £2 million.

The commercial centre is one of 214 being opened around the UK and was created following research that shows local relationship management is just as important to business customers in Swindon as the ability to lend quickly and efficiently.

In total, HSBC plans to increase the number of dedicated local business bankers by 11 per cent to more than 1,280 as part of a five-year £1.4 billion investment in customer service initiatives.

Senior commercial manager Mark Kirkham said: "By investing more time talking to our customers and visiting their premises around the region whether office, factory or shop we can better understand their business and its ambitions.

"This will allow us to offer these businesses the best local service possible."

HSBC has also opened commercial expertise teams in Bath, Chippenham, Wells and Trowbridge.
