A NEW gardening club at a Warminster primary school has seen pupils relishing the chance to get their hands dirty.
The after-school club at Chapmanslade Primary School only began last month, but so far eight green-fingered youngsters have signed up for the Thursday sessions.
Like all the clubs at the school, gardening is open to year four children and above.
Administration officer Marion Muston said: "We just started this term as a result of all the building work on our new hall. It's created a few flowerbeds that we didn't have before.
"They are clearing the weeds and putting bulbs in. There's another bed which will have shrubs in. We've got eight in the club, all boys. I think they just like getting their fingers dirty.
"It's surprising the number of children who are interested in gardening.
"Some of the mums come along as well and it has really helped to brighten up our already lovely grounds."
The new £400,000 hall and classroom will be officially opened on November 12 alongside a display of the school's history.
Headteacher Joss Jewell said the buildings would transform life for staff and pupils and her photographs of the work at each stage are mounted on a display in the school's reception.
