A WARMINSTER mother was given the surprise of her life when her boyfriend proposed live on radio.
Matthew Jones, 20 popped the question to mum-of-two Debbie Clayton, 38 after a live radio competition called Super Squares.
Matthew failed to win a trip to New York in the competition which was supported by the Wiltshire Times, but there was more excitement after the quiz as he got down on one knee and proposed.
A delighted Miss Clayton said yes immediately.
Mr Jones said: "Debbie didn't have a clue what I was going to do so it was a complete surprise for her.
"I knew I was going on the radio about a week before so I had planned it since then. We've been together 13 months which is quite quick to get married. But we had moved in together after a week so we are used to things moving quickly."
Miss Clayton said: "I was absolutely gobsmacked and not expecting it all."
The couple hope to marry next summer at the Minster Church in Warminster.
