A PRIMARY school in Bradford on Avon has been recognised for its contribution to football.
Fitzmaurice Primary School became one of six schools in Wiltshire to be awarded the FA Charter Standard Development School Award on Friday.
Mike Benson, Wiltshire FA secretary, and Barry Stevens, Wiltshire FA development secretary, turned up at the school to present the prize during assembly.
As well as the award, which is given for outstanding contribution to football, the school was given new training bibs and footballs, and will also be given support by the FA.
Teacher Michael Collins said the school's involvement in football had grown over the past three years, with matches against other schools and football included on the curriculum for some classes.
He said: "It's great for the football club, especially as this helps us get more equipment."
Many of the pupils now play with Bradford on Avon Youth Football Club.
