We have just come back from taking our puppy up onto the White Horse. It's the first time for several years that we have actually walked across the area behind the car park and we are disgusted at what we found.
There was so much dog's mess that we had to watch every step, and litter everywhere, including beer cans and bottles and disposable cigarette lighters. After taking some rubbish away from our dog we were amazed to find there were no litter bins anywhere. We have since been told that all bins put up there have been stolen.
We picked up our dog's mess and brought it home in the car. Not very pleasant, but at least it won't be trodden on by a child. A few sturdy bins might encourage some people to clean up after themselves.
We normally walk our dog in Southwick Country Park where there are several robust bins which would be very difficult to remove, and although there is a small amount of litter and dog's mess, we can at least have an enjoyable walk.
We don't know who is responsible for the upkeep of the White Horse and surrounding area, but surely the authority concerned should do something about it. People come from all over to visit, probably most of them with children. Whatever must they think? It is a disgrace.
