UNTIL OCTOBER 16 2004, BATH: THE Pirates Of Penzance sail into the Theatre Royal Bath next week with a whole host of local talent on board as the Bath Light Operatic Group performs one of Gilbert and Sullivan's best-loved works.
This is a raucous tale of pirates, policemen and romance.
The musical tells the story of dashing young Frederic, the beautiful daughters of a certain Modern Major General and a band of soft-hearted pirates.
Featuring flying and sword fighting, this hilarious show is packed with brilliant tunes and witty lyrics, including the well-loved songs I Am A Pirate King, The Modern Major General, Poor Wandering One, and A Policeman's Lot Is Not A Happy One.
This exuberant, new adaption of The Pirates Of Penzance by Broadway director Joseph Papp was first performed in 1980 in New York and has enjoyed a record-breaking run on Broadway, and great success in the West End and at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park.
After acclaimed visits to the Theatre Royal Bath with Oliver!, The Sound Of Music, Crazy For You, My Fair Lady and Me And My Girl, Bath Light Operatic Group returns to present The Pirates Of Penzance.
The cast includes Sarah Phillips from Bradford on Avon in the role of Mabel.
Ticket prices range from £12 to £23.50 and are available from the box office on (01225) 448844.
