Ref. 72627-49BARMAID Jo Thirkettle has praised passers-by for rushing to the aid of a man who was knocked down by a bus in Gorse Hill.
Mrs Thirkettle stood in shock after a man, who she thought was using his mobile phone at the time, stepped in front of a bus in Cricklade Road at about 5.15pm on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old mum, who works at the Vision bar and caf in Gorse Hill, said the force of the impact cracked the vehicle's windscreen.
The man was taken to the Great Western Hospital but his injuries were not thought to be serious.
"To see his body lying in the road was quite shocking," said Mrs Thirkettle.
"There was blood coming from his head and he was very much out of it.
"People rushed over and put their coats over him and one woman took her coat off and wrapped it around the wound on his head. They did really well."
The identity and condition of the accident victim is unknown.
