15980BROWNIES have joined the fight against crime in Trowbridge. Youngsters in the 4th St James' Brownie Pack have been completing their crime prevention badges, and helping police.

Leader Deborah Townsend said: "They have learnt something valuable and really enjoyed doing it."

To help them complete their badges the Brownies contacted the police who asked them to design crime prevention posters.

Neighbourhood crime reduction officer Mark Abbott and Trowbridge sergeant Martin Schorah worked with the children to teach them about the work of the police as well as how to help prevent crime.

Each of the eight pack members then designed a poster and the winning design, created by nine-year-old Rebecca Bignold, will be used by the police to promote the message.

Anyone interested in joining the Brownie group can go along to the meetings, held at St James Church Hall every Thursday at 6.15pm or call Miss Townsend on 07709 707887.
