15978ELDERLY people living in a sheltered housing scheme in Trowbridge will be able to make more of their garden after it was given a makeover.
David Oakenson, chairman of West Wiltshire Housing Society, opened the garden at Charlotte Court on Thursday, after it was made more user-friendly using Lottery cash.
Housing Society spokesman Rebecca O'Neil said: "There is a raised flowerbed, which means residents can garden more easily and people in wheelchairs can see and smell the flowers."
New fencing has also been put in to give residents privacy. The grounds used to open onto the road but now the 24 residents can sit in the garden in summer, and enjoy the view from inside during the colder months. Residents have formed a gardening committee and have started planting their own pots.
