15968/10A BIRTHDAY surprise in the form of a school choir turned up on a Staverton woman's doorstep to help celebrate her special day.
Louisa Hallett turned 90 this week and children from the Emmaus School, near her home in School Lane, waited outside to serenade her.
Headteacher Miriam Wiltshire said: "Her son asked us if we would go over and sing happy birthday to her.
"We have had a friendly relationship with her in the time the school has been here so we sent the school choir over."
Trowbridge town crier Trevor Heeks, who also lives in the village, added his own booming tones to the tribute by reading out a birthday poem.
Emmaus is an independent school that opened seven years ago and has 32 pupils aged between five and 16.
The choir has also sung at a wedding.
Mrs Wiltshire said: "They get to go out and about a bit more now and they really do enjoy it."
