Should there be a banana skin in the preliminary round of the Wilts Senior Cup, Cricklade Town could provide it against local Hellenic League rivals Purton, WRITES RAY BURROUGHS.

Red House boss Chris Pethick said: "I suppose you could say we are favourites to go through and no doubt the Purton faithful would like to put one over on their local rivals.

"I'm enjoying my first season at Purton, it's a good club and a great set-up. We are still in the rebuilding process and could always do with new players."

Cricklade are going well in the Wiltshire League Premier Division of the Wilts League and manager Graham Jackson thinks his side are not without a chance.

"Games between the clubs are always a bit hectic early on but if we keep our shape and don't give any silly goals away we could give them a close game," he said.

AFC Stratton visit Screwfix League Melksham Town in a new venture for the new Stratton boss Tony Dyer.

Also up against it would appear to be New College who visit Westbury United.

Former Town star Paul Bodin will be at the sharp end for this match and his experience could help the young Swindon side put up a good show.

Bromham, who shocked Premier leaders Westbury United Reserves last week, entertain Hellenic Premier side Wootton Bassett.
