MARK Collier is set to poach midfielder Nathan Edwards from rivals Cirencester but not in time for this evening's FA Trophy showdown with Yate.

The former Swindon Town youngster has struggled to break into the Ciren side since signing in the summer, so Collier is expecting to bring him back to Supermarine where he spent the second half of last season.

The Marine boss also has his sights set on a striker to take the burden off of Dave Toomey.

Highworth's Pete Macklin tops the wanted list in that department and an approach has been made.

Any new faces will not be signed prior to tonight's trip brought forward to avoid a clash with the England versus Wales match.

So Collier must keep faith in the squad that have slipped into the lower reaches of the Southern League.

The cause has not been helped by injuries, with Giles Harris and Craig Heaney still sidelined.

Dave Gee is suspended, while Steve Davies and Steve Bennett face fitness tests on groin strains but should come through okay.

Collier has already seen Yate at close quarters recently Marine suffered a 2-0 defeat at Lodge Road less than a fortnight ago.

The manager was suitably impressed by the opposition.

"They are a very powerful side," said Collier.

"It says it all when you see Matt Rawlins sat on the bench for them and he cost them £3,000 from Chippenham.

"We played quite well down there for 45 minutes and we played well against Rothwell last Saturday without getting a result.

"But we can go there relaxed. "It's away from the pressure of having to pick up points in the league."

The winner of the Preliminary Round tie travel to Banbury in the next phase.
