IF a week is a long time in football, then the last month must seem like light years to Steve White.

At the start of September the Bluebirds were cruising at the top of the Premier Division, with six wins and two draws from their first eight games.

Since then they have lost their two league games, registered an unconvincing FA Cup win over crisis club Bitton before going out of the competition to Wessex League minnows Lymington last weekend.

So where did it all go wrong?

"It's been a collective thing," said White. "Five or six players have not been on their game at the same time.

"The goals have dried up too for the first few weeks of the season we were the most prolific club in the country bar none.

"But the players overachieved massively at the start of the season.

"It was comparable to Bolton rubbing shoulders with Arsenal and Manchester United. There are several teams in our league with resources far above our own.

"But hopefully we can get back to winning ways starting at Solihull."

White takes his troops to the Midlands tomorrow also refuting claims of indiscipline in the camp, with accusations of players drinking on the eve of games.

"Those rumours are utter rubbish," he said.

Chippenham travel without Mark Badman who continues to recuperate from treatment on his Achilles.

Gary Thorne is also a doubt with the foot injury that kept him out against Lymington.

n WITH Fraser Digby's cameo for Cirencester last weekend strictly a one off, manager Brian Hughes has moved to sign further goalkeeping back-up.

Forest Green Rovers custodian Danny Greaves has been drafted in for a month to cover for the injured Paul Thompson.

Thompson chipped a bone in his heel during training on the eve of last weekend's FA Cup trip to Bognor.

Hughes attempted to recruit Greaves at the 11th hour, but Forest Green did not want him cup tied so Digby a friend of Ciren chairman Steve Abbley stepped in.

The Centurions were beaten 4-3 by the Conference South side and, although Digby did well, there will be no repeat performance with Greaves now on board.

Hughes said: "We're most appreciative of Fraser for helping us out but he made it clear it was a one-off so we've brought Danny in."

The 20-year-old is set to make his debut at Bedford tomorrow, kick-off 1pm.

The rest of the squad has a clean bill of health, although midfielder Nathan Edwards is set to move to Swindon Supermarine after a spell on loan at Hellenic League Tuffley.
