ACTOR George Baker is helping to keep Wiltshire's air ambulance in the air.

The Wiltshire thespian best known as Inspector Wexford in the Ruth Rendall Mysteries is compering a fundraising music evening.

The event has been organised by road accident victim Pam Chivers-Trevett, who was rescued by the ambulance. She was taken to hospital with head injuries following the crash near Marlborough this summer.

Guests at Devizes town hall next Thursday will enjoy the sound of jazz singer Christina Jackson and keyboard maestro Tony Goldman. There will also be a charity auction.

Mrs Chivers-Trevett, of Devizes, said: "I wanted to say a big thank you to the staff who run the service.

"Until the accident, I didn't realise how important the ambulance was," she said.

Tickets for the evening, which starts at 7.30pm, are £10. Call 01380 729408.
