PROSTITUTE Tanya Lacey has appeared in court after she was caught plying her trade on Manchester Road in Swindon.

The 20-year-old was arrested as she was talking to a prospective client who had stopped at the side of the road in the red light area.

And after being released on bail by the police she was later caught back on the Manchester Road in the early hours of the morning in breach of her bail conditions.

Prosecutor Paula Mulherne told town magistrates that a police patrol was in the Broad Street area shortly before 10pm on Tuesday September 28 when they saw her.

When she was questioned she admitted what she had been doing.

She said she had been working as a prostitute that night.

After being released on bail the court was told that she was then put on a curfew from 8pm to 6am.

However, she was found on County Road at 5am on the morning of Tuesday.

The court was told that she had previously been given cautions for prostitution on February 19 and April 23.

Lacey, who used to live at a bed and breakfast on County Road, told the court she had no fixed address.

She pleaded guilty to prostitution and breaching bail.

Lee Mott, defending, said: "She is hoping to amend her behaviour in the near future so she doesn't appear before you again."

Magistrates put her on a one-year conditional discharge.

The court decided not to impose costs because of her financial situation.
