WILTSHIRE police are looking for volunteers to become Independent Custody Visitors.
These are people who visit police stations unannounced to check on the welfare of people detained in police custody.
Visitors must be 18, live or work in the area of the police authority and have no direct involvement in the criminal justice system such as police officers, magistrates or probation officers.
Newly-appointed custody visitors complete a probationary period and some travel expenses are payable.
Visitors are required to undertake a minimum of 10 visits a year and should be random and unannounced.
If the activity interests you, contact Ron Flux at the police authority on 01380 734022.
