STUDENTS at Faringdon Community School have been given a £10,000 grant.
The money has been provided by Barclays through its education sponsorship scheme, Barclays New Futures.
The grant will be used to establish the Junior Sports Leaders Awards (JSLA) and Community Sports Leaders Awards (CSLA) at the Faringdon Community College. Links will be made with surrounding primary schools, Scout and Guide organisations and community clubs.
Students involved in the project will go into rural schools to help set up sports clubs.
It is anticipated that the scheme will impact on 100 Community College pupils, and almost 1,000 primary schools.
