THE recent decision by the planning inspector overturning a planning refusal from West Wiltshire District Council for one dwelling at Montague Place, Melksham, will anger many councillors and local residents.

After considering all the facts the inspector has totally ignored the views of the town and district council as well as that of residents.

There will always be borderline cases were the council has reached a questionable decision but in this case we should have been looking at a clear refusal.

The area of land is not big enough for a shed let alone a dwelling.

Even after reading the

inspector's report I still find it hard to understand how he reached his decision.

West Wiltshire Housing Society owns this area of land and it is clearly paying very little attention to the needs of local residents.

I would hope it would consider their views before putting profit before people.
