IN last week's publication of your paper, the problems of pigeons in Trowbridge were once again brought to readers' attentions.

Here in Bradford on Avon we have solved your problem, or more pointedly the town council has.

On the site of the old gas works in Frome Road, the council has decided to build some pigeon lofts so the birds can come and live with us in Bradford on Avon.

Just a minute, I have heard that they are not lofts for pigeons to reside in but for humans.

The residents of this Saxon town are continually being informed that we must keep within the boundaries set by various committees. Who let this planning application slip by? Is this the path we can expect to go down whilst the new town centre is once again being planned?

I can imagine 100 houses of this design throughout the old Avon site. Are we also to expect this design on the Colour Development site once it is sold? What has happened to the Preservation Trust? I am surprised that they allowed this to go forward; perhaps they are only interested in what they can see out of their own windows.

I cannot see this building development on the old gas works site or what will eventually be built on the Colour Development site from where I reside so I have no axe to grind here, but I do believe that if this type of building is allowed to rear its ugly head throughout the town, the residents should put a stop to it.

Well, at least the pigeons will be happy.

Bradford on Avon

I AM frequently shopping in and driving through Bradford on Avon and I am delighted to see that the little property next to the Three Horseshoes has been so beautifully restored and now looks in keeping with the rest of the town.

Recently Bradford on Avon seems to offer more variety in its types of shops a delightful and thriving little town.
