DO you recognise these photos?

A concerned Walcot resident contacted the Evening Advertiser after finding the old photos on Buckhurst Field.

Terry Jones was walking his dog when he spotted the photos in the grass.

"I picked them up and because they are obviously old I just felt that somebody must have lost them," he said.

"They are one-off pictures, they could not be replaced.

"I got the impression they had been dropped or perhaps someone had their bag stolen and then these were dumped.

"I just thought they are too valuable to throw away this is somebody's past."

There are three black and white photographs each with a sepia tinted appearance.

One shows a man wearing a cap and an overcoat and holding a toddler who is dressed in white.

He is standing in a park and in the background a woman can be seen pushing an old fashioned pram.

There is a photograph of a young woman smiling at the camera and wearing a patterned blouse, black jacket and a necklace with a cross pendant.

The third photograph is of another young woman possibly the same as in the previous one.

She is sitting on a wall and smiling and is wearing an overcoat, skirt and jumper and a cross necklace.

The photographs look as though they were taken in the 1940s or 1950s and could be of great sentimental value to their owner.

There were no details about the time when they were taken or of who is photographed on the backs of the pictures.

Mr Jones, 54, of Walcot, found the photos on the morning of Monday, December 13. They were wet and he thought they had been dropped either earlier that morning or on the Sunday night.

"They were soaking wet," he said. "I managed to dry them out by putting them by the radiator with a weight on top to keep them flat.

"I thought if they went in the Evening Adver-tiser someone might recognise them."
