TORY councillors have made £10 million cuts in services, the government has given them £5 million extra towards the council tax rise and they still intend to increase it next year by three per cent.
We are told that £5,000,000 equals one per cent this, by my reckoning, is a council tax increase of 33 per cent. In April they mocked Labour councillors for keeping all services, including voluntary groups and grass cutting, when they asked for a seven per cent rise in council tax. This begs the question, why do we need to pay three per cent increase in tax when there is £15 million extra in the coffers and cuts in services?
